Washington, D.C. — Congressman Tom Barrett (MI-07) today announced he is joining an effort to sanction Russia in response to President Vladimir Putin’s continued aggression in Ukraine by cosponsoring H.R. 4346, the Preventing the Escalation of Armed Conflict in Europe (PEACE) Act. This legislation would authorize new sanctions against foreign institutions that are propping up Russia’s energy sector and bankrolling the violence against Ukraine.

Lansing, Mich. — Today, Congressman Tom Barrett (MI-07) welcomed U.S. Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer to Lansing for a tour of Shafer Redi-Mix.

During the visit, Barrett and Chavez-DeRemer met with the team at Shafer's Lansing concrete plant, toured their facility, and discussed how cutting unnecessary regulations is essential for repairing Michigan's infrastructure and encouraging new housing and business development.

Some of the most important care a veteran can receive doesn’t come from a hospital–it comes from family. Every day, spouses, parents, and loved ones across the country are stepping up to care for veterans who’ve come home with serious injuries. Many of them leave their jobs and put their lives on hold to provide the full-time care that veterans need.

These caregivers deserve support for such a selfless undertaking–not a maze of bureaucracy and red tape.
