The people of mid-Michigan sent me to Congress to do the hard work necessary to lower the cost of living, secure our border, and unleash American energy. Unfortunately, while I’ve been working hard to deliver on those promises, Democrats have been trying to scare people into believing the sky is falling when it comes to H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, that we are working on in Congress.

Delivering for veterans shouldn’t be a partisan issue. This week, the House put politics aside and came together to pass 9 bipartisan bills that take meaningful steps towards improving the lives of our nation’s heroes. I believe Washington has a duty to serve those who served with the same dedication they showed our country.

I know firsthand that when it comes to serving those who served us, the VA must do better. Veterans deserve timely care, accurate benefits, and simple, reliable communication. That’s why I’m proud to introduce three commonsense bills that tackle waste, cut red tape, and modernize outdated systems. 

This National Police Week, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of the men and women in law enforcement. But our support cannot stop at gestures; it must be backed by action.

The United States of America is the greatest country in the world because we are never afraid to lead by example. This week, the House proved that point by coming together and passing 9 bipartisan bills that send a clear message: America will not turn a blind eye to authoritarian aggression, forced labor, or human rights abuses around the world.
