I know firsthand that during long deployments and difficult moments of service, what keeps our service members going is the hope of returning home to their family. But that promise is harder to fulfill when unnecessary barriers stand in the way of putting a roof over your head.
The American people are sick and tired of Washington playing by a different set of rules — and rightfully so. Half of my colleagues are already millionaires. Many of them got wealthy thanks to profits they’ve made on the stock market, which is out of touch with the growing number of people who are struggling to make ends meet.
The heroic men and women in our military make sacrifices and put their lives on the line to defend the American people and our freedom. For too many of our veterans, however, one moment serving overseas can tragically change their life forever.
Michigan’s Selfridge Air National Guard Base plays a strategic role in securing our national defense and driving our state’s economy. Not only that, the men and women who serve there strengthen our entire region and deserve our support. That’s why I’m working across the aisle in Congress to make sure Selfridge has the resources it needs to defend our nation long into the future.
Veterans put it all on the line in service to our country. The last thing they should face when they return home is never-ending delays and hurdles just to access the benefits they earned.
In July 2025, Congress passed and President Trump signed into law the Working Families Tax Cuts. This historic legislation provides huge tax relief for working families and small businesses, secures the border, invests in our military, boosts rural hospitals, strengthens Medicaid and food assistance, and restores American energy dominance.
