Michiganders work hard for their money, and they are tired of seeing their tax dollars wasted. That’s why I have fought hard in Congress to bring resources back to mid-Michigan to make all our great communities even better, safer places to live and work.
I know firsthand that during long deployments and difficult moments of service, what keeps our service members going is the hope of returning home to their family. But that promise is harder to fulfill when unnecessary barriers stand in the way of putting a roof over your head.
The American people are sick and tired of Washington playing by a different set of rules — and rightfully so. Half of my colleagues are already millionaires. Many of them got wealthy thanks to profits they’ve made on the stock market, which is out of touch with the growing number of people who are struggling to make ends meet.
The heroic men and women in our military make sacrifices and put their lives on the line to defend the American people and our freedom. For too many of our veterans, however, one moment serving overseas can tragically change their life forever.
