Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Barrett (MI-07) issued the following statement after the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States:

"Today, I had the distinct honor of attending the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump inside the Capitol Rotunda. This ceremony marks a pivotal moment in our nation's history, as we witness the peaceful transfer of power and the beginning of a new chapter for America.

“I am eager to work with President Trump and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to implement economic policies that return good-paying jobs to American workers, lower inflation, cut taxes, and revive our manufacturing sector—especially right here in Michigan–where we will ensure we make more cars and goods that say ‘Made in America.’

“Securing our borders, streamlining federal government operations to better serve the American people, and advancing common-sense policies are essential to building a more prosperous and secure future. Furthermore, I am committed to supporting the agenda of promoting peace through strength by enhancing our national defense, supporting our troops, and ensuring our veterans receive the respect and care they have earned.
