Congressional App Challenge

The Congressional App Challenge (CAC) is a national competition encouraging student participation in computer science and coding. Congressman Barrett’s office is delighted to be hosting this annual competition for middle and high school students (grades 6-12) throughout MI-07.

Officially launched by the U.S. House of Representatives through House Resolution 77 in 2015, the growth of competition has since inspired over 40,000 students across all 50 states to participate in the Congressional App Challenge.

Each participating member of the House of Representatives accepts submissions from his or her congressional district.  Congressman Barrett represents Michigan's 7th congressional district, which includes all of Ingham, Clinton, Shiawassee, and Livingston Counties, most of Eaton County, and parts of Oakland and Genesee Counties.  (If you are unsure of who your member of Congress is, click here to find that information online.)

Students are encouraged to register as individuals or as teams and submit their app by October 30th, 2025. The winning app of MI-07 will be eligible to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building for a year and winner(s) will be invited to #HouseofCode Capitol Hill Reception in Washington, D.C.
