Barrett, SBA Administrator Loeffler Highlight Working Families Tax Cuts, Hear from Workers in Lansing and Howell
Lansing, Mich. — Today, Congressman Tom Barrett (MI-07) hosted U.S. Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler, a member of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet, in mid-Michigan for the second time to meet with local workers and small-business owners who are benefiting from the relief Barrett and the president delivered through the Working Families Tax Cuts.
The congressman and administrator participated in a roundtable meeting with local business leaders at the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, toured Campbell Press Repair in Lansing, and visited Motorsports Gateway in Howell.
“The Working Families Tax Cuts are rewarding the Michigan work ethic and helping people keep more of their hard-earned paychecks,” said Barrett. “Now, families are getting bigger refunds this tax season, and small businesses have more resources to invest in our local workforce. I’m grateful to Administrator Loeffler for joining me today to hear directly from the hard-working small-business owners of mid-Michigan as we continue working together to make life more affordable and grow our economy.”
“Thanks to President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts, Michigan workers and small businesses are getting real relief — not just during this tax season, but for years to come,” said SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler. “What we saw today is consistent with what we see across the country: Historic tax cuts mean that hardworking families and small businesses keep more of what they earn. On the anniversary of Liberation Day, it is clear that the America First agenda is restoring opportunity across Michigan — all because President Trump and Congressman Barrett are putting American industry and American workers first. There are few states that benefit more from Made in America than Michigan.”
At the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, Barrett and Loeffler heard directly from mid-Michigan small-business owners about their biggest successes and challenges. The group shared how the tax cuts and investments in the Working Families Tax Cuts are lowering costs for their businesses and the local workers they employ, and they offered recommendations for ways the federal government can help foster economic growth. Barrett also presented a congressional recognition in honor of the chamber’s 125th anniversary.
“In the Lansing region, small businesses are vital to our economic growth,” said Tim Daman, president and CEO of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. “With more than 70 percent of LRCC members employing fewer than 20 people, the resources and services of the Small Business Administration are an important partnership in supporting entrepreneurs, expanding opportunity, and ensuring our local economy remains strong and competitive. We appreciate Congressman Barrett inviting SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler to visit with small business owners and leaders in our region.”
The officials then toured Campbell Press Repair, a Lansing machine shop whose engineers and skilled technicians maintain, repair, and rebuild forging and stamping machines for manufacturers around the world.
“A strong manufacturing base is key to well-paying jobs, national security, and self-reliance,” said Pete Campbell, CEO of Campbell Press Repair. “It was great to have Administrator Loeffler and Congressman Barrett at Campbell Press Repair to discuss their focus on strengthening the competitiveness of U.S. manufacturers in the world market. Their work minimizing red tape, promoting energy independence, and providing a pro-business, pro-worker tax structure will support job creation and industrial growth. I greatly appreciate the administrator’s and congressman’s efforts to support workers at Campbell and the many other manufacturers we serve.”
Barrett and Loeffler then went to Motorsports Gateway, a Howell business which recently obtained a loan from the Small Business Administration to help build its racetrack. Barrett’s office helped the business resolve a paperwork issue and secure the loan.
“For more than 70 years, the Small Business Administration has supported America’s small businesses. Through our SBA loan, we’re building a motorsports facility focused on performance driver training,” said Jordan Dier, Co-Founder at Motorsports Gateway. “We’re grateful to Congressman Barrett for his support in securing this critical financing, and to both him and Administrator Loeffler for visiting Motorsports Gateway to see the progress firsthand. Their commitment to small businesses continues to strengthen our economy and support job creation here in Howell.”
